5 STEPS TO A PERFECT TURF
1. CUT THE RIVET IN THE RIGHT HEIGHT
No, you do not have to spend your Saturdays mowing lawns. One of the most fundamental steps to achieve a perfect turf is to obtain the ideal cutting height for the type of turf you have and for the season of the year you are in.
Most grass can survive a length between 5 to 8 centimeters during the spring and early fall. In summer, if possible, leave it a little higher. But, keep in mind that you should never cut it below the recommended minimum height except for the last cut of the season. At this point, the length should be about 4 inches for most lawns.
2. USE A SHARP BLADE
The state of the blade you are mowing is important so that you can get a perfect pitch. Professional companies sharpen their blades every 8 hours of use. But for most private parties, it is recommended that they do so at least twice a year.
The jagged edges caused by a poorly shaped blade make it harder for grass to fight against pests and diseases.
3. SET THE WATER QUANTITY FOR WATER
Irrigating too much grass causes more damage than water. Most grass can deal with dry seasons, but not with flooding. Remember also that, especially in the summer, you should only water in the morning very early or at the end of the day, to avoid wasting water.
4. DO NOT FORGET THE SUPPLEMENTS
To get a perfect turf you have to take care of it with some supplements, but you do not have to exaggerate. Four balanced applications of fertilizer per year are sufficient: in the spring, in the summer, in the early fall, and after the first frost. Always remember to follow the instructions on the fertilizer packaging.
In addition, it should be remembered that its excessive use may even have the opposite effect and hamper the growth of your turf.
5. ALWAYS PREVENT
As is already well known, prevention is the best medicine. Thus, maintaining your turf consistently is essential if you are to get a perfect turf. Repairing minor flaws and removing weeds are some of the things you should be doing year-round.
